Your Instructor
Hi my name is Pete Whyler and I am a Driving Standards Agency (DSA) approved Driving Instructor. I am a friendly, patient and understanding instructor offering driving lessons in Lincoln, Gainsborough and Newark areas. I am married to Julie and we have two daughters and two grandchildren.
I was born in Nottingham in 1962 and yes that makes me old, 50 years old to be exact, I move to Lincoln at the age of 3 where I have lived ever since, so I have a good local knowledge of the roads in the area's that I teach in. I had always worked in the retail trade since I left school, but was not enjoying the job I was doing, so I started to think about a change of career. So what was I good at? (Not a lot some might say!!) Well I am good with people and I enjoy driving so got to thinking could I become a driving instructor and pass on my years of driving experience. I thought about it for a few weeks and then thought why not see how to go about it.
That's when I spotted an advert in the newspaper become a driving instructor!! So I rang the company up and arrange a meeting with one of there instructor trainers. We met up the following week and went for a drive, he was very encouraging and said he thought I would make a good driving instructor. So I thought what the heck and signed for the course back in January 2012. I revised for the dreaded theory test (didn't have to do that when I passed my test aged 18) and passed that in February 1st time. Then I started my 20 hours of driver training the same month and then sat my practical driving test at the end of the same month.
Then I started my instructor training which lasted 40 hour's doing this around my other job finished that in the March and I then applied to the DSA to become a trainee driving instructor as I still had one more test to pass within 6 months. So the driving school that I had spoken to at the start of this process was Red Driving School and they was willing to take me on as a trainee driving instructor and I started in April 2012 when I had received my trainee licence. Red are a large company I was getting a lot of pupils for lessons. Then I started to think about my last test and booked that for the end of July and passed it 1st time so I was now an ADI and started to think about doing this as a full time job.
So while we were on are family holiday in France I said to my wife that when I went back to work at my part-time job that I was going to hand my notice in and do the driving full time (you should have seen the look on her face) but she said if that was what I wanted then it was fine. So I finished at my part-time job August bank holiday weekend 2012 and started full time driving instructing the following week. So that just about brings me bang up to date, and now I am going off into the big bad world by myself as of August bank holiday 2013.
So if your thinking about learning to drive then why not give me a call on 01522 881 608 or 07963 612 982 to see about the lessons I can provide for you.
